School Teacher Charged with Drunk Driving in Texas

For reasons typically unknown, a person sometimes chooses to get behind the wheel of a car after having imbibed alcohol. Drunk driving can lead to a motor vehicle accident. Depending upon the circumstances of an individual situation, criminal charges are sometimes filed against a driver in the aftermath of such an incident. In Texas, a mother of two, who is also a local school teacher, was recently involved in circumstances that have led to her being placed on leave from her job.

The 34-year-old woman was reportedly found in her car with her two children in the middle of a local pond. Police officers say that they received calls to respond to the scene. Witnesses claim they saw the woman drive the car into the pond.

Thankfully, neither the children nor the woman suffered any bodily harm in the incident. Authorities say that the woman was able to lower her car window and all three occupants safely climbed out and swam to the bank of the pond. In addition to being placed on leave from her teaching position, the woman faces multiple counts of driving with a child passenger while intoxicated.

Hire An Experienced Defense Attorney

A family member is said to be taking care of the children. The woman has since been released from jail on a $2,000 bond. A Texas criminal lawyer would be able to assist someone facing similar drunk driving charges in the state. Navigating the legal system in such circumstances can prove confusing and complicated. It is therefore typically advisable to act under the guidance of an experienced DWI attorney.
