Swimming pools provide unending fun for children every summer. With the hot Texas summers, Dallas parents look for ways to let their children have fun in the water yet safety concerns always abound. From pool drain entrapment to drowning, a swimming pool accident can happen in the blink of an eye and can result in serious injury or even death.
Across the nation, we are halfway through the 10th annual Drowning Impact Awareness Month to help raise and maintain awareness about the importance of constant vigilance when children are in swimming pools. Whether injured on private property or injured on commercial property, a swimming pool accident not only leaves families upset, scared or even in mourning but can be the beginning of a premises liability lawsuit.
Drownings in pools can be caused by many things including children getting trapped bythe powerful suction action of a pool drain. If this happens, children may be unable to break away and ultimately drown. Proper supervision is a must at all times, even for children known to have strong swimmig ability. Even the best swimmers may be unable to get free from a pool drain entrapment.
As summer winds down and kids everywhere are clamoring to enjoy the last days of summer, parents are encouraged to raise the bar for swimming pool supervision. The right oversight can help prevent a slip and fall or other accident in or around a swimming pool. If your child is injured while in a pool, you may wish to speak to an attorney to learn how to stay protected.
