Police Suspect Drunk Driving as Cause of Texas Accident

|

It's no secret that many accidents on Texas roadways are alcohol related. Not all who are accused of drunk driving will spend time in jail, however. Depending on the circumstances of an individual situation, an experienced criminal attorney acting on behalf of a defendant is sometimes able to challenge various aspects of an arrest or charges that have been filed. There is no guaranteed outcome when facing such charges in court; although, exercising all options toward a strong defense typically increases one's chances for a positive resolution.

A collision on a recent Saturday resulted in one motorist being charged with public intoxication, with more charges anticipated as the investigation continues. Apparently, his westbound vehicle struck another vehicle on I-10 East. The vehicle that was hit reportedly crashed into a concrete wall. There was one fatality in the crash.

The accident also involved two other cars that crashed. No injuries were reported in connection with the second collision. There was a substantial amount of debris on the road after both accidents, which caused more than a five -hour shut down of the roadway.

The man who police say was responsible for the crash was charged with public intoxication. This preliminary charge was based upon his arrest following the incident at a nearby Jack-in-the-Box restaurant. Investigators claim that the man's wrecked vehicle and his appearance led them to believe that drunk driving was a factor in the incident. Whether further charges are filed and what the outcome in a Texas criminal courtroom will be remains to be seen and may depend, among other things, on what type of defense is presented in court.
